Wedding Tent at Stanley Hotel

The Stanley Hotel asked Tentrix to swap an existing frame tent for a 5500 square foot floating stretch wedding canopy. The tent pitch was on a concrete patio over an old pool that had been converted to a beautiful dance floor with a mahogany deck inlay - a perfect site for a wedding reception.

Our tenting challenge was to cover the dance floor completely as well as the concrete patio area. Guests needed to picnic on the covered lawn and sit on the rock retaining wall. We pitched with few stakes, using expansive concrete anchors to keep the walkways free.

We avoid ballasting whenever possible. Because of the forces produced by a proper stretch tent pitch, ballasting is unsightly. Instead, we joined two tents into a ‘T’ formation, using expansion anchors and clamping onto a cantilevered pool deck. With some creative rigging we extended anchorage over the walkways into the lawn and kept all passages clear.

We added market lighting for that perfect storybook wedding touch! Additional up-lighting was added for the day of the event.

The pitch was for a series of events in the Fall 2017, including a large wedding. Weather can be challenging to predict in Colorado but the bride chose to keep the canopy open to showcase views of the Rocky Mountains. Some heaters were added to take the chill off. For a subsequent event we modified the tent pitch by dropping two sides because the weather was starting to turn. We add stretch doors and skirting to completely close down a tent in winter, but we kept the flow this time around.

This Estes Park Wedding Stretch Tent at the Stanley Hotel is a premium wedding destination. The classic architecture of the historic Stanley Hotel serves as one of the most desirable venues in the Rocky Mountains. As an aside, do try to suppress the ‘here’s Johnny’ scene from ‘The Shining’, which shares the Stanley as a backdrop.
